Season 9 will be starting in January. This is the final season of One Tree Hill
With the last season of One Tree Hill premier only a few days away, lets re cap some of your favourite moments from Season 8! TV Ology has put together their top moments, which one is your favourite? Each moment is a clickable link to watch your favourite moment on Youtube!
“[Chad] comes back for an episode, and I actually get to work with him. I think it’ll be cool because then I’ll get to say I’ve worked with almost everybody, with Tyler [Hilton] coming back and a bunch of other people. Except Hilarie [Burton], I don’t think Hilarie will be coming back.”
On what fans can expect from season nine:
“A lot of mystery and a lot of drama! But I hope [it ends happily.] That’s obviously an ultimate dream of mine, but you never know with Mark [Schwahn]. I think everybody has a lot of drama and a lot of stuff going on in their lives. I’m so involved in everybody’s story lines, not like in other years. … It’s been interesting.”
On the secrecy surrounding the season’s biggest story lines:
“They’re not telling us anything this year. I find things out episode by episode when I get the script, which is really cool because it’s like a mystery novel. It makes me anticipate the scripts even more. I feel like Mark’s giving it everything and the fans are not going to be disappointed.”
On the set’s vibe, while filming the final season:
“It’s like coming back after Christmas break senior year. Everybody’s happy and excited, and just grateful to be finishing it off like this.”
On Brooke and Julian’s twins:
“They’re so cute! There are so many kids on set. We’re all going to be awesome parents after this season, because we all have to work with babies.”
Yep you heard correct. Chad, playing Lucas Scott, will be returning for the final season. At this stage, wife Peyton isnt set to be returning but anything is possible at this stage… squeeeeee!
Lucas Scott is coming home.
Chad Michael Murray, who has been missing in action since season six, is officially returning to One Tree Hill. CMM is the biggest cast puzzle piece yet, with Tyler Hilton and Paul Johanssonalso coming back for the ninth and final season. So why does Lucas return to Tree Hill?
Because his best friend needs him!
Last time we saw Lucas, he was happily driving off into the sunset with his wife, Peyton (Hilarie Burton), and their new baby, Sawyer. But he comes back to his hometown after Haley (Bethany Joy Galeotti) reaches out to him for help. Since it’s speculated that Nathan (James Lafferty) disappears for awhile, perhaps Haley brings Lucas back to Tree Hill to help her find his brother? What better reason is there?
Also returning is everyone’s favorite mom: Deb! Barbara Alyn Woods recently said in an interview that she would be coming back for OTH‘s final season as well. The gang’s (almost) all here! We just need Burton back as Peyton, and the OTH sendoff will be complete.
Murray told E! Online last month that he would “absolutely” come back to One Tree Hill if they asked him. Thankfully, everyone came through.
Chris Keller was a huge troublemaker back in the day when One Tree Hill was about high school students. We loved to hate him, even when he pretty much broke up our favorite married teenagers, Nathan (James Lafferty) and Haley (Bethany Joy Galeotti).
And now, for the ninth and final season of OTH, Chris Keller is back, and back full time! The man behind the character, Tyler Hilton, told us all about his big return to the show after being gone for so long, and we had many questions for him. What will we be getting when he blows back into Tree Hill? And what’s the atmosphere like on set for OTH‘s final season? Fortunately for us, Chris Keller is telling…
How did your return happen? Did the show reach out to you? Or were you just camped outside of the set since season four?
Tyler Hilton: Over the years the One Tree Hill cast and crew has become a small unit. It’s really a small family and they have asked for a few years if I wanted to come back. [Last year I said], ‘If they have one more season I will definitely do it,’ and sure enough they were asked back, against all odds, so I had to comply.
OTH is definitely a show that beats the odds
[At this season's first] table read, the creator of the show (Mark Schwahn) had this great speech about how many shows we have been on longer than, and we are one of the longest-running shows on TV. It was really cool. It was also the first time I got to be a part of the cast from the first episode as a series regular. I always used to come in, hang out and then leave. But this season is the last, they are writing as if it is…They want to end it in a way they want to end it. It’s cool I get to be back for the end of it.
Unless it gets renewed again. Stranger things have happened on TV!
I wish it would, too. I haven’t been on this show the whole time like everyone else so I am the one silently chanting, “Season 10! Season 10!” But everyone else keeps looking at me like, “Dude, no.”
So what has Chris Keller been up to since we saw him last in season four?
Just doing more of the same…for the most part he has just been touring and being Chris Keller all around the world. The funny thing is, because they skipped everyone ahead six years, it’s been a long time since we have checked in with Chris Keller. It’s been, like, 10 years or something, which is strange but it’s also cool to see what he has been up to. I had dinner with Mark Schwahn and he told me what he was thinking in terms of what was going to happen this season…I have to say I think this is going to be the best stuff I have ever done on this show. It’s just hilarious.
I really wish Chris Keller gained 200 pounds since season four and you had to film in a fat suit.
No, that would be great though! The stuff they have been coming up with, it just seems like they have been dying to do Chris Keller stuff for so long and they’ve been saving it all up.
What do you want fans to find out about Chris Keller?
I am a fan of the character just as much as everyone else. When I get the script, I run home because I cannot wait to read it, like it’s the newest book in the Twilight series or something. I hope the fans find out the same thing I want to find out. I just want to know more about his backstory and where he has come from…Something happened in the last script that confused me, and now I am not quite sure who Chris Keller is. He is in a territory that I don’t even know, so I am just hoping to find out what made him the way that he is. I want to know: Was he born this way?
In the past, Chris has caused friction between Nathan and Haley. Is it the same story this time around?
Everyone is 10 years older than the last time Chris Keller came to town, there may not be the same kinds of situations, but there is still a lot of drama there. This is probably my favorite season of the show, ever. It’s so wound up into each other…I definitely do have a lot of dealings with Haley.
You will be performing on the show, right?
Yeah. The album I have been working on, releasing in January, [fits in] right with the first episode, so we are putting a lot of my music on the show. As always, my music is Chris Keller’s music. Chris Keller does have good taste in music. So yeah, I will be performing on the show, playing some of my songs, and I get to play with some other people and help out some other artists, too.
What’s the atmosphere like on set while you guys shoot the final season?
Last season people were probably just feeling exhausted and unsure as to whether or not it was the last season. Now they know and we only have to be out here for four months…It kind of reminds me of the summer camp feel, when everyone is new and so excited to be here, always getting into trouble and having fun and hanging out with each other all the time. And that’s what it feels like now, which is great because it doesn’t feel like work at all.
Well, it seems like One Tree Hill will be back for another season. Although, it’s only 13 episodes and it’s set to air mid-season which is in January. Season 9 is the final season of One Tree Hill.
Below is the official press release for season 9.
MIDSEASON
“ONE TREE HILL”
Season eight of ONE TREE HILL saw the characters moving away from glamour, fame and wealth and instead dealing with the delicate balance that contemporary twenty-somethings face as they endeavor to build and define what their lives will be. Fashion designer Brooke Davis lost her company but found love with Julian Baker, was married and gave birth to twins. Haley James Scott supported her husband Nathan as he lost his NBA career to an injury, but she also won a personal battle with depression and ultimately gave birth to a daughter to compliment their son Jamie. Nathan’s friend and business partner Clay Evans survived an attack by the psychotic Katie to find love and happiness with Quinn James, who not only survived the same attack, but also vanquished the threat of Katie in a harrowing confrontation. Alex Dupré began a promising singing career and also a promising relationship with Chase Evans, who joined the Air Force and returned with a newfound maturity and perspective. And Millicent Huxtable began a broadcasting career, ultimately launching a morning show with her boyfriend Mouth McFadden. In season nine, how will Brooke and Julian juggle parenthood and their very young careers? With Nathan traveling more as an agent, how will Haley’s life change with a second child, an increasingly independent Jamie, and a busy café to run? Is a wedding in store for Quinn and Clay? Or Mouth and Millicent? And what’s to become of Alex and Chase and their burgeoning romance? Following a fictional four year jump in time, “One Tree Hill” has now spent four seasons exploring the experiences of twenty-somethings. Season nine will continue to grow and break new ground, as the show approaches the rarified air of 200 episodes. The series stars Sophia Bush as Brooke Davis, Bethany Joy Galeotti as Haley James Scott, James Lafferty as Nathan Scott, Robert Buckley as Clay Evans, Austin Nichols as Julian Baker, Shantel VanSanten as Quinn James and Jackson Brundage as Jamie Scott. ONE TREE HILL was created by Mark Schwahn and is executive produced by Schwahn, Joe Davola, Greg Prange, Mike Tollin and Brian Robbins. The series is produced by Mastermind Laboratories and Tollin-Robbins Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.
Here is the synopsis for the 20th episode of season 8, The Man Who Sailed Around His Soul.
TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALLGAME — As Nathan, Julian and Clay coach Jamie’s first little league game, the situation regarding the accident comes to a head. Meanwhile, Chase asks Alex to take a drug test for him, and Quinn gets an offer to shoot in Puerto Rico.
Tuesdays episode was amazing. I really loved all the flash backs. Here is the promo for next week’s episode, Where Not To Look For Freedom. Captures of Quiet Little Voices will be coming soon.
Here is the official description for episode 19 which is airing on the 25th April. Also, below the cut is the description of next weeks episode.

NATHAN SEEKS REVENGE — While Haley stays at home to take care of the new baby, Quinn organizes a concert at Tric. Meanwhile, Brooke gets an offer to return to Clothes Over Bros, and Nathan sets his sights on exposing Professor Kellerman.
I could never say no to more One Tree Hill, but in what I’d consider a pretty negative article from Ology, there are definite chances we could see OTH and our favourite cast come back for another season.
According to CW president, Dawn Ostroff, the network isn’t ruling out the possibility of a season 9, considering how well the ratings are holding with the way things are going creatively.
”We have a big wedding coming, and the episode is going to be fantastic,” Dawn told Rob Owen of Star News Online. “Mark Schwahn — bless that man. I don’t know how he does it. He’s as enthusiastic about the show today as he was when we formulated the CW. He loves what he’s doing and is still able creatively to keep the show in a place where the fans are really satisfied. He seems really satisfied, and we’ve been thrilled with it.”
OK, but is that enough for a ninth season?
“Possible,” Dawn said. “I could never say no given what this has been. Every year it’s, ‘Do we think it can get picked up again? Do we think it can go?’ And every year… we pick it up. You never count Mark out. Every year he comes back, and he’s made the show better.”
True. Granted the show recycles plot lines like crazy, this season is one of the best in the last few years. Every year we think it’s done and POOF, it comes back.
When asked if they might move One Tree Hill to Fridays to replace the soon-to-be dead Smallville, Dawn said it never crossed her mind.
